Post Surgical Rehabilitation

Post surgical Rehabilitation

Recovering from surgery can be challenging, but the right post surgical rehabilitation can help you regain your strength, mobility, and confidence. At Rally to Rise Physical Therapy, we provide individualized post-surgical rehabilitation designed around your specific surgery, goals, and stage of recovery. Whether you are recovering from an orthopedic procedure, joint replacement, ligament repair, or another surgery, we work with you to safely restore movement, improve function, and help you get back to the activities you enjoy.

Back pain can come from many different sources, including muscle strains, irritated joints, disc problems, arthritis, changes in the way you move, or a combination of these. Because there can be so many different contributing factors, it can be hard to know what to do. Our physical therapists can evaluate your movement, strength, mobility, and symptoms to help determine what may be contributing to your pain. We’ll also work with your primary care physician or surgeon when appropriate to make sure you’re getting the best care we can provide.

What surgeries do we rehab?

Post-surgical rehabilitation

At Rally to Rise Physical Therapy, we provide post-surgical rehabilitation for a wide range of orthopedic surgeries. This includes joint replacements such as total knee, hip, ankle, and shoulder replacements, including reverse total shoulder replacements. We also rehab rotator cuff and labral repairs, ACL and meniscus repairs, ankle stabilization procedures, spinal surgeries such as disc replacements and spinal fusions, fracture repairs, and many other orthopedic procedures. Your rehabilitation program is tailored to your specific surgery, your surgeon’s protocol, and your individual goals to help you safely regain strength, mobility, and function.

How does physical therapy help after surgery?

Physical therapy plays an important role in helping you safely return to your normal activities after surgery. At Rally to Rise Physical Therapy, we help restore your range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, and overall function while guiding you through each stage of recovery. Treatment may include therapeutic exercises, hands-on techniques, movement training, and education to help reduce pain and swelling, improve mobility, and rebuild strength. We work closely with your surgeon’s rehabilitation guidelines and adjust your treatment as you progress, with the goal of helping you return to the activities, work, sports, and everyday life that matter to you. We also understand that every person approaches recovery differently. We tailor your treatment to you and your personality—whether you're a go-getter who needs to be reined in a little so you don't push too hard and risk getting hurt, someone who is more timid and needs encouragement and reassurance to know what you can safely do, or anyone in between. We're here to guide, motivate, and challenge you when appropriate, and help you feel confident throughout your recovery.

What can I expect during recovery?

Every surgery and every person is different, so your recovery will be unique to you. Your physical therapist will work with you to establish goals and create a plan that progresses as your body heals. Early in recovery, treatment may focus on managing pain and swelling, protecting the surgical area, and restoring basic movement. As you heal, we will gradually progress your exercises and activities to rebuild strength, mobility, balance, and confidence. Some days may feel easier than others, and recovery doesn't always happen in a straight line, but we'll be there to guide you through each stage and help you understand what to expect along the way. Our goal is not simply to help you recover from surgery, but to help you get back to doing the things you want and need to do. And don't be afraid to come in on the days when you're not feeling your best. Recovery isn't always easy, and you won't feel great every time you walk through our doors. We're here to help you on the good days, the bad days, and everything in between. We'll meet you where you are and help you take the next step forward.
